1) INSTALLATION & SET UP
=============================================

Please note that Red Faction: Guerrilla does not support Microsoft® Windows®
95/98/NT/2000.

1.1 MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

• Windows® XP SP2 or Vista® SP1
• 2.0GHz Dual-Core Processor (Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Athlon X2) or higher CPU
• 1GB RAM
• Shader Model 3 video card (NVIDIA 7600GT 128MB / ATI Radeon X1300 128MB)
with latest manufacturer drivers.
• DirectX® 9.0c compatible sound card
• 15GB of uncompressed Hard Drive Space
• Games For Windows® LIVE Local Profile

1.2 RECOMMENDED SYSTEM SPECIFICATIONS

• Windows® Vista ® SP1 for DirectX® 10
• 3.2GHz Dual-Core Processor (Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Athlon X2) or higher CPU
• 2GB RAM
• Shader Model 3 video card with 256MB (NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT / ATI Radeon HD3850 or equivalant)

1.3 MULTIPLAYER SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

• For Games For Windows LIVE multiplayer matches, the Recommended System Requirements are
strongly suggested
• Internet (TCP/IP) and LAN (TCP/IP) play supported.
• Internet play requires broadband connection, latest drivers, and a Games For
Windows® LIVE Enabled Profile.
• LAN play requires network interface card, latest drivers and a Games For
Windows® Local Profile.

1.4 DIRECTX® DETECTION AND INSTALLATION

The Red Faction: Guerrilla installer will check your computer for the currently
installed version of DirectX®. If it detects an older version of DirectX®, it
will install DirectX® 9.0c and 10 automatically. The installation of DirectX®
will not harm your DirectX® configuration. Red Faction: Guerrilla requires DirectX® to
install and play.

1.5 GAMES FOR WINDOWS® LIVE PROFILE CREATION

Upon launching Red Faction: Guerrilla for the first time, the game will prompt you to
enter your Games For Windows® LIVE Enabled Profile information. If you do not
already have a Games For Windows® LIVE Enabled profile, you will be prompted
to create one.

You have the choice to create a Games For Windows® LIVE Local Profile or a
LIVE Enabled Profile. Creating a Local profile allows you to play single
player campaign, Wrecking Crew modes, and LAN matches only but does allow you to earn
Achievements or to benefit from any of the online features of Games For
Windows® LIVE. To experience the most from Red Faction: Guerrilla play, and to
participate in online matches, it is recommended to create a Games For
Windows® LIVE Enabled Profile.

2) TROUBLESHOOTING
================================================

2.1 INSTALLER/PATCH ISSUES

A. Interference from Anti-Virus Programs
It is recommended that any anti-virus programs be disabled when attempting to
install Red Faction: Guerrilla. Anti-virus software can often interfere and corrupt
the installation process of new software.

B. Modifications
Any modifications to Red Faction: Guerrilla may result in the inability to patch
successfully. Before applying any modifications we suggest backing up the
affected files and replacing them before applying any patch. Not doing so may
result in the need to re-install the game.

2.2 VIDEO ISSUES

Latest drivers required

For best performance and video quality, please make sure you have the latest
drivers for your video card when running Red Faction: Guerrilla. If you have an ATI or
NVIDIA video card, you can find drivers on their websites.

Driver: ForceWare Graphics Driver Version 186.18 or newer

Preliminary tests with out-of-date ATI drivers have shown some graphic
corruption while playing Red Faction: Guerrilla. Upgrading to the latest ATI drivers
can solve the problem for most users.

Preliminary tests with out-of-date NVIDIA drivers have shown lower performance
and missing objects. Upgrading to the latest NVIDIA drivers can solve the
problem for most users.

2.3 SOUND ISSUES

A. Latest drivers required
Please make sure you have the latest drivers for your sound card when running
Red Faction: Guerrilla.

B. The sound stutters while playing
Make sure you have the latest drivers for your sound card. If stuttering
persists try reducing Hardware Acceleration. From your Windows® desktop,
click Start, then Run, type "dxdiag", then hit Enter. This brings up the
"DirectX® Diagnostic Tool". Click the Sound tab and try reducing the
"Hardware Sound Acceleration Level" slider.

2.4 OPERATING SYSTEM-SPECIFIC ISSUES
A. Windows® Key Interrupts Game
If the Windows® key is pressed during game play, the Start Menu will
interrupt the game. Should this happen, simply press the Escape (Esc) key to
close the menu and return to the game. Unfortunately, there is no way to
prevent this from happening again except by being careful not to hit those
keys while playing.

B. Administrator Privileges Needed To Install On Windows® XP and Vista®.
You must have Administrator privileges to properly install the game. You do
not, however, require Administrator privileges to play the game after it has
been installed.
For information on how to change your user settings to obtain Administrator
privileges, please refer to your Windows® documentation, or click the Start
button and select 'Help and Support'.

C. Alt-Tab to Switch Applications
Some drivers do not support the Alt-Tab switching between Red Faction: Guerrilla and
other applications. It is highly recommended that you do not use Alt-Tab to
switch to another program while Red Faction: Guerrilla is running. If you wish to
switch programs, first close Red Faction: Guerrilla. Using Alt-Tab while
Red Faction: Guerrilla is loading can result in loss of all sound when returning to the game.

2.5 MULTIPLAYER & INTERNET ISSUES

***NOTE***: THQ Customer Support does not support playing multiplayer through
firewalls or shared connections.

A. Firewall Issues
- If you have a firewall it may be blocking Red Faction: Guerrilla but the firewall
popup window is not showing in front of the game. Quit the game or bring up
the task manager and end the Red Faction: Guerrilla task. Go to your firewall settings
and correctly configure them for Red Faction: Guerrilla.
- If you have a firewall such as ZoneAlarm or Norton Personal Firewall, then
you need to make sure that you have given Red Faction: Guerrilla permission to access
the internet and to accept connections from the internet.
- If you have the Windows® Firewall enabled, you need to make sure that
Red Faction: Guerrilla is listed and selected in the "Exceptions" section of the firewall
options. To do this open the 'Control Panel', double-click the Network
Connections icon, and right-click on your internet connection. Select
'Properties', then 'Advanced'. You should now see the 'Settings' button for
the Windows Firewall. Click the button and make sure that the firewall is
turned off, or that ' rfg.exe' is selected in the 'Exceptions' tab of the
Windows® Firewall dialog box.
- If problems persist try disabling the firewall.

B. NOD32 Virus Checker users
- NOD32 scans the network activity of the programs on your machine. You need
to configure NOD32 to exclude Red Faction: Guerrilla from scans as it will drastically
degrade online performance. In the IMON setup, under the Miscellaneous tab,
press the edit button within the Exclusion box/zone. Press the Add button in
the Exclude Application dialog and find the rfg.exe on your hard drive to add
it to the exclusion list.

C. Games For Windows® LIVE
If Games For Windows® LIVE if blocked by a firewall, you will not be
able to log into your Games For Windows® LIVE Enabled Profile
preventing you from playing Online Multiplayer Matches. Please ensure the appropriate
ports required for connection to Games For Windows® LIVE are open.

2.6 KNOWN ISSUES

A user may experience a crash when signing in to Games for Windows - LIVE if they meet the following
criteria:
* User has a below minimum spec CPU
* User has the minimum spec amount of RAM in their computer
* User is running Windows XP 32-bit
* User signs in with a Games For Windows - LIVE profile that has not been used with
Red Faction: Guerrilla on this computer.

In addition, a user may experience a crash when signing in to Games for Windows - LIVE if they meet
the above criteria but have a min-spec or higher CPU (but still meet the remaining items) if there
is a system update for Games for Windows - LIVE.

To work around this issue, it is recommended that users in the first instance update their CPU to
meet the minimum specifications required to run the title. Barring that, users may download system
updates to Games for Windows - LIVE by visiting the Games for Windows - LIVE support page:

In game, to work around the issue, users may start the game offline (not connected to the internet),
and only connect Games for Windows - LIVE to the internet once in the first mission of the game. The
user should not experience a crash at that time.

In case the user is experiencing the above crash, in order to receive Title Updates for Red Faction: Guerrilla
the user will need to obtain Title Updates via game external methods. Please visit THQ Support (see Customer
Support section below) to view alternate methods for obtaining the Title Update.

In-Game Options are accessed by pressing "ESC" and selection "Options" when in game.

A. Controls

General
- Camera Y-Axis - Adjusts the cameras vertical axis between standard and inverted
- Sensitivity - Adjusts the overall sensitivity of the camera control when using a gamepad
- Crouch - Toggles between crouch toggling (press) and holding the crouch control
- Vibration - Toggles Vibration on or off when using a supported gamepad
- Mouse Sensitivity - Adjusts the overall sensitivity of the mouse for camera and menus
- Configuration - Switches between control input types

Button Controls
This screen allows a user to customize their controls across control configurations

Axis Controls
This screen allows a user to customize their axis controls between control configurations

B. Display

General
- Resolution - Switches between supported resolutions
- Refresh Rate - Switches between supported refresh rates for your monitor
- Windowed - Toggles between full screen and windowed mode for the game
- Monitor - Allows multi-monitor users to switch primary monitor for the game
- Detail Level - Toggles between available detail levels

Advanced
* Note: Enabling and or switching some options to higher settings may impact performance unless
the user has more advanced CPU and GPUs available. In addition, some options are only available
when using DirectX 10.
- Antialiasing - Switches between supported antialiasing options; certain options are
only available when running in DirectX 10
- Shadow Detail - Switches between shadow detail levels
- Soft Shadows - Toggles soft shadows on and off
- Depth of Field - Toggles the depth of field effect on and off
- Motion Blur - Toggles the motion blur effect on and off
- Particle Detail - Adjusts the level of particle effect detail
- Ambient Occlusion - Toggles the ambient occlusion lighting effect on and off
- Sun Shafts - Toggles the sun shafts lighting effect on and off

- Help Messages - Enables and disables pop-up help messages throughout the game
- Subtitles - Enables and disables subtitles for the installed language
- Aim Assist - Enables and disables aim assistance when using weapons in game

D. Audio
- Sound - Toggles all game audio on or off
- Ambience - Adjusts ambient volume
- Music - Adjusts music volume
- Voice - Adjusts voice volume
- SFX - Adjusts SFX volume
- Overall - Adjusts overall volume

E. Extras
- Credits - View the game credits
- Enter Code - Enter promotional codes if available

5. IMPROVING PERFORMANCE
==============================================

There are several ways to improve the performance of Red Faction: Guerrilla on min and
mid-spec systems, all accessible through the Options menu:

- Reduce the Resolution - Select a lower Resolution from the menu.
- Reduce the level of Shadow Detail - Select a lower Shadow Detail setting from the menu.
- Reduce the Antialiasing level - Select a lower Antialiasing level from the menu.
- Reduce the Particle Detail - Select a lower Particle Detail level from the menu.
- Disable additional features - Disable additional features such as Soft Shadows, Depth of Field,
Motion Blur, Ambient Occlusion and\or Sun Shafts.
- Run in Fullscreen - Running the game in Fullscreen mode as opposed to Windowed
mode will improve performance.
- Close other applications - Running the game while other applications are active may
detract from the game's performance.
